A considered collection for personal spaces.

OBR Art Bureau works with clients to find art that gives a space presence, character and a sense of completion. Representing a small group of contemporary Mexican artists, we create private selections shaped around the architecture, atmosphere and scale of each interior. Every proposal is personal, considered and specific to the space.

01

Maribel Portela

Maribel Portela (b. 1960) lives and works in Mexico City. Over more than four decades, she has developed a sculptural practice grounded in material inquiry and the close observation of natural form. Working across ceramic, bronze, wood, paper and PVC, she reconfigures marine and botanical morphologies through repetition, accumulation and structural assembly. The resulting works move between organic reference and architectural form, combining material precision with a strong spatial presence. She is a member of Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, and her work is held in public collections in Mexico, Europe and the United States.

02

Charabati Bizzarri

Charabati Bizzarri is the collaborative artistic practice of Mexican artists Raquel Charabati and Mónica Rivera Rio. Bringing together ceramics, graphic design and photography, their work explores the relationship between material, repetition and space. Individually formed ceramic elements are threaded, stitched and assembled into sculptural surfaces and installations that balance tactile irregularity with architectural precision. Drawing on the logic of weaving and accumulation, the practice transforms clay into a modular language of rhythm, colour, shadow and suspension. Their work has been commissioned for private residences and hospitality projects internationally, including Aman, Four Seasons, Rosewood and Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

03

Omar Hernández

Omar Hernández (b. 1979) is an Oaxacan ceramic artist whose practice transforms inherited pottery traditions into a contemporary sculptural language. Raised in a family of potters and having studied architecture before devoting himself fully to clay, he brings a strong sense of structure, proportion and spatial presence to his work. Drawing on Oaxaca’s landscape, agricultural life and pre-Hispanic forms, Hernández uses modelling, incision, sgraffito, imprint and firing to create surfaces shaped by memory and material process. Repetition and accumulation extend this language into reliefs and larger sculptural constructions, where texture, rhythm and variation remain visible. His work moves between the elemental and the architectural, rooted in place without treating tradition as fixed.

04

Trine Ellitsgaard

Trine Ellitsgaard (b. 1954, Virum, Denmark) is a textile artist based in Oaxaca, where she has developed her practice for more than two decades. Trained as a weaver in Denmark, she brings geometric structure, restrained colour and technical precision into dialogue with the materials and textile knowledge of southern Mexico. Her work moves beyond conventional weaving through shifts in scale, structure and dimensionality. A central part of her recent practice explores henequén, working in collaboration with master spinners to bring the fibre into contemporary textile forms. Ellitsgaard’s work has been presented at Museo Textil de Oaxaca, MACO, Designmuseum Danmark and galleries in Paris and the United States.
